At Overdale Drive a stone from a local Oxford Quarry was used.
Southern Stonemasons discovered this stone in 2005 and were the first stonemasons in New Zealand to utilise it for quarrying and construction. It was nicknamed 'Oxford Grey' and has since become a very popular local volcanic stone due to its colour, consistency, crisp look and availability.
The flush joint is an age old heritage building style where mortar is used to create a flat surface to help seal the exterior of a structure.
On this property this stone has been used to provide both a sense of strength and warmth to the dwelling. We have also built an outdoor fire area with Bluestone seats and hearth to help create that timeless look and feel of solid structural stonework.
